This is an archive of emblems that I design as an ongoing personal project.

Embroidered patches for space missions have been around since the early days of human spaceflight. They serve as a symbol of human curiosity, innovation and as a way to honor these ambitious projects.

The Magnetospheric Multiscale Mission consists of four spacecraft orbiting Earth. By flying in a pyramid-like formation they investigate how the Earth’s and Sun’s magnetic fields connect and disconnect in a process called magnetic reconnection.

This physical phenomenon can be regarded as a kind of “space weather” that influences everything from electrical power grids to GPS navigation and even the performance of fusion reactors. The spacecrafts, that were built at NASA Goddard and launched in 2015, lay the groundwork for further missions and our future capabilities of space weather forecasting.
